It seems that last week's post was pretty popular. Or, rather, it had a lot of 'Likes' and a few comments. Either way, since it went over so well, I thought I would share a few more entries that I wrote back before I had a belly. Enjoy - I know I like reading them. It seems like forever ago!
June 22, 2009 - Week 7, Day 1
Today was by far the worse day of morning sickness yet.
I woke up at 6:20 a.m. for work. I couldn't even shave my legs in the shower, I thought that I might throw up or pass out. I moved at the speed of sound! Everything was more challenging: getting dressed, fixing my hair, putting on makeup, and especially brushing my teeth. There is no faster way of triggering my gag reflexes than brushing my teeth! At one point I collapsed in the middle of the room and cried, I felt so bad. Heath helped make me feel better, emotionally of course; there was no stopping the morning sickness! Even the smell of toast was disgusting at this point.
I somehow made it to work, 10 minutes late. For one and a half hours I stared at my computer monitor, in a daze. I finally choked down some oyester crackers and one ginger snap. Better? Not really. Relief didn't come until I finally threw back a few Dramamine at 10 a.m. Since it was Dramamine, you can imagine what happened next. I left at 2 p.m. from work because I thought I might fall asleep sitting up! Heath drove me home, where I fell asleep for the next 4 hours. I woke up enough to eat supper and watch Secret Life of the American Teenager and Jon and Kate Plus Eight. Then, I went back to sleep.
June 23, 2009 - Week 7, Day 2
This morning went a little better. I told Heath on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst, I felt like a 7.
It is better than yesterday. Yesterday was almost unbearable! I still didn't eat any breakfast, not that Heath offered though. I tried to eat crackers before getting out of bed, but could only choke down one. I somehow got down two ginger snaps though. Maybe it helped; who knows? Everything is still quite dazy. I still move at the speed of nothing.
I got to work, on time, or 3 mins late (close enough). I still look horrible, but that is to be expected I guess. Our building's air conditioning went out, yay! So, now I was hot and nauseated. It was a good time to drink my water for the day. It is supposed to get up to 100 degrees, or close to it, today. They better get the a.c. fixed!
I also heard that a girl I went to high school with named her son 'William'. We were thinking that was going to be our #1 boy's name. It sure does bum me out. We'll see; we may not use it now. She lives in another county and I don't really see her much anymore. It still bothers me though.
June 25, 2009 - Week 7, Day 4
Yesterday was much better. I felt alright throughout the day and felt a little more sick in the morning. I took a ginger pill and it seemed to calm my stomach. I am also wearing sea-bands on my wrists. I don't know if it is working or not, but it was worth a try! Since I have been wearing them, I haven't felt AS bad.
Yesterday afternoon I started to get a little queasy, but mostly tired. I have already planned a nap for today, right when I get home. I feel exhausted!
I also wanted to mention the acne that I have been getting! It is like I am 16 again. I hope this too will pass.......

Ahhh, now I am starting to remember what the early stages of pregnancy were like. Oh, how easily it was all forgotten! I am glad that I journaled this stuff for Lucy though. I think she'll enjoy reading it all someday. For anyone who is planning on starting a family - I recommend doing this. Even if you only have the energy to write three sentences, you'll never regret it. :)

I didn't keep a pregnancy journal but I do keep my own journal so I have all of those memories. I have also kept a journal for both boys since they were born. I wanted them to know what they were like more than milestones that baby books keep. I am bad about keeping up sometimes but I hope they know that I put the effort in so that someday when they are dads, they'll have an idea of what to expect.
ReplyDeleteI tried Seabands too - did not help but did help Monica Blank out with her motion sickness. LOL I ended up having a prescription for my morning sickness both pregnancies.
