Am I Missing a Few Teeth?

Because, if I get reverse head-butted one more time...

Oh, you don't know what the reverse head-butt is? It is when a squirmy toddler, who is experiencing either the sleepy wobbles or a major tantrum, is in your lap; they lean forward and without any warning lean back really fast, cracking their head right into your mouth.

This has resulted in some sore, and I swear almost loose, front teeth. She has even bloodied my lip! Thank goodness it seems to hurt me a lot more than it does her. The bloody lip experience is the only time she cried. I am not sure it was the pain or my moaning that made her cry.

"So, Lucy, what did you want to watch on...oohp....son-of-a..."

No - I didn't cuss. I stuck to the Tommy Boy version.

I may have teared up too, since no one else was there to judge. The few times Heath has seen it, he just gives me one of these:

- eyebrows raised
- teeth fully in view, clenched
- nose scrunched
- head titled

Are you trying this out as you read? You should. You'll get the idea.

The expression says, "Holy crap - that looked like it hurt. Are you gonna cry?"

I am scared too. Lucy is only getting bigger. There will be a day that she pops back and breaks my nose! Nothing is worse than getting hit in the nose too. Okay, a few things. But, it is like cutting onions, water rushing up your nose, Dr. Pepper burp, and getting punched all at the same time!

Haha...did I go a bit far with the Dr. Pepper burp? Don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, wish me luck in my future. I will be sure to get lots of pictures of these pearly whites, just in case they decide to exit my mouth, via Lucy's head. Good thing we have great dental insurance.

  1. I know exactly what you're talking about. Both of my kids are expert reverse head-butters (and sometimes butt heads). Rest assured, as big as Tristan is, he's never broken my nose. It's FELT that way at times but never actually broken.

yes I have been a victim of the flinging back toddler head, and yes she did it to me in public once and it hurt so bad my eyes teared up.

You are so right about the nose accident! Stuff with your nose hurts like nobodys business and that then takes you forever to regroup. I am going to wear a helmet and neck brace when I have a baby. Thank you for preparing me = ) HA!

  5. Try being awoken by one of those reverse head-butts! lol I'm not going to lie... I shed a few tears over that one! You know, I'm glad it doesn't hurt them, but if it did, maybe they wouldn't do it! :P Best of luck as she gets bigger and stronger!
