25 Days of Christmas TV Schedule

You all knew that if I was that into Halloween on TV, that I'd be over the moon for Christmas on TV! :) I just love the 25 Days of Christmas Countdown! They’ve already been showing Christmas movies all over! ABC Family is having a Home Alone event this Saturday and all next week they are showing Christmas movies or family movies.

Again, the schedule below is for Central Standard Time. I recommend copying the text, pasting it into Microsoft Word or Microsoft Publisher and making a fun, creative Christmas Schedule. I always "dress" mine up, hang one on the fridge, and put another one on the coffee table next to the remote.

This is only a portion of the schedule. Many channels don't release their schedule too far in advance and ABC Family only highlights some of their movies. Therefore, check back in the future for more Christmas madness! :)

Before You Know It...

There we were. Standing in Lucy's room at 9:08 pm last night. Heath with his arms crossed and one hand on his mouth, as if he was studying something. That something was Lucy actually. Me? Well, I was standing studying her as well, with my hands on my hips. There was a lot of glancing at each other.......hmmmmmm. Finally Heath said, "Yep, let's lower it tomorrow."

I immediately flashed back to a year ago, November 2009. I was standing, with a bulging belly in Lucy's nursery, peering out the window at my dad. He was unloading Lucy's furniture. In the back of his truck, the dresser still stood. On the ground was the crib box. It seemed much easier to take out of the box outside and then move it indoors. Oh, and there are my mums which were still alive.......darn 3 feet of snow on the ground winter!

I got to play the lazy (or pregnant, rather) card and take pictures of the process and got out of assisting at all.

They moved the crib and put the frame at the highest setting. They even moved it over to the appropriate corner.

Then, my dad said it. "Before you know it, we'll be lowering the mattress." At the time, I said, "Oh yeah...," as if I knew what he was getting at. Really, I was thinking....um, no that is like forever from now.

Boy, was he right.

Back to last night, I grabbed Lucy's hands on the side of her crib and lowered her back down. She grumbled, as she had delighted in hanging onto the side and jumping up and down vigorously. Any bystander could tell she was looking for approval and perhaps a little bit of applause at her achievement. Instead, there we stood.......staring, watching her fluffy, baby hair 'whoosh' in the wind her bounces were creating.

How did we get here so fast? It seriously feels like yesterday that we put the crib together. And, why did my dad's comment stick with me so? Where did the time go?

Tonight is the official lowering of the crib. I am saying good-bye to semi-mobile Lucy and welcoming mobile-Lucy into our home. Is this the final step? Nope. But, it is another step in the 'safe' direction. Wish me luck on this milestone readers!

I don't follow a whole lot of blogs. I like to follow people, I admit they are mostly women, who I find intriguing. And, I continue to search for other blogs that are similar to mine - following the path of crazy motherhood and family. Nonetheless, I often come across blog challenges, questions, conversation, and subjects to prompt posts. I feel sometimes that using them takes away from why I started blogging in the first place; but, then again, sometimes I just can't help it!

So, here it is: a post prompted by another blog's questions.

1. What would you pick to eat if you only had one meal left?

Heath and I were just talking about this yesterday! I think it would be chicken alfredo and garlic cheese bread, and creme brulee for dessert. :) Yum! Coming in at a very close second place is Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. I'm easy to please. I could seriously eat KM&C (that's an acronym I just made up.....take it....share it...) for every meal if it wouldn't end with me weighing 8oo lbs! Gotta love those carbs!

2. What quality is the most important to you in the opposite sex?

I always say a sense of humor; but, now that Heath and I have been together for so long, I recognize that 'communication' has kept us together. Yes, I 100% appreciate the goofy dancing and stupid phrases. We have a blast together and are very compatible. He isn't too bad on the eyes either. ;) However, that, alone, can't keep a relationship solid. It is the fact that Heath and I never go to sleep angry, never let an argument just 'disappear', and share our feelings that has equaled 10 years of fabulousness. :)

I hope that we can display a healthy relationship to Lucy. Communication is so important in all facets of life. Now, if everyone else could share their feelings openly and rationally, we could all get along just fine! :) Can you read the psychology major in me coming out?

3. If you could pick your birthday, when would you want it and why?

I don't think I have a specific day that I would want to change my birthday to. Now that I am older, my birthday has become very "unimportant." I may change the day, just because it is so close to Valentine's Day. When I was younger the elementary school Valentine's celebration and my birthday always got mixed. Now, Heath and my Valentine's dinner always gets doubled up with my birthday. Oh well, it isn't too big of a deal to me though.

4. What is your dream job?

Ha. Does anyone ever really know the answer to this question? There have been jobs that I thought I would love and when it came down to it, I didn't. So, who's to say? Unrealistically, I would love to be an actress or something else that would make me millions for working a minimal amount of time. Plus, professional hair and makeup sounds amazing! :) More realistically, or so I think, I would really love to teach in higher education. We'll see...I just want to be happy with what I do.

5. Biggest Pet Peeve?

Sometimes I ask myself how I became so anal. I have a slew of pet-peeves. They make me sound so up-tight. So, here they are: when people say "a hunerd" instead of "a hundred", when people use double negatives in a sentence (ex: "I didn't hurt nobody." "I never done nothing before."), when people cuss at their children, when people's jeans get caught on the tongue of their tennis shoes (some people do it on purpose - ugh!), when some one's eyebrow hairs are messed up, when people walk through my yard, and when I, myself, use improper grammar when speaking. I also hate when people drag their teeth on a fork; but, I think that is more of something that gives me the 'heebie-jeebies' more than anything else.

6. What show can you not miss?

My life sadly involves a lot of television. I am a sucker for a good movie and have grown to love the DVR more than most of my household items. This fall we've been watching: Biggest Loser, Teen Mom, 16 & Pregnant, Melissa and Joey, Hellcats, 2 1/2 Men, The Buried Life, Glee, Storm Chasers, and Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Soon, we will be watching: American Idol, Kendra, Pretty Little Liars, Greek, Huge, Secret Life of the American Teenager, Tosh.0, and 10 Things I Hate About You. And, okay, okay, I'll admit it I also watch Hannah Montana, Sonny with a Chance, and Jonas, L.A. Some would say that was a pretty awful group of shows; to them I say..........well, I've got nothing.......just watch it before you knock it! :)

Occasionally my husband makes me watch Blue Mountain State (is that what it's called?), South Park, The Office, Mythbusters, Jersey Shore, and that R.J. Berger show on MTV.

Well, that is all for now. I hope this gives you a little more insight to my life and more specifically, my mind. Every time I say, or type rather, something ridiculous I can't help but to think, "Oh, Lucy, you have some pretty silly parents! I hope you aren't too embarrassed by us when you're older!"

I Want My Mommy...

Ah, how many times have we been holding some one's child and they utter those words.....or worse, the child just lets out a gigantic wail. Both result in a blood-curdling cry that encourages all those in ear-shot to run.

Well, although very uncomfortable for the so-called "stranger" trying to hold the child, it has to be a little nice for the mommy (or daddy). The baby, or tot in some cases, finds so much comfort in their mother's arms. What a wonderful feeling! To know that of all the people in the world, they trust you the most. They rely on you to protect them, to take care of them, they ultimately love you more than anyone else in the world!

I never knew how beautiful the words "she wants her mommy" sounded, until now.

Lucy is a good girl. She lets out an occasional wail or two at people when she is cranky; but, otherwise, she likes everyone. I honestly believe that a bum off the street could walk up, take her out of my arms and she'd just poke at his scraggly facial hair. Alright, perhaps she has a little bit more of a 'stranger-danger' radar than that; but, you get my point.

I'm pretty sure daycare has made her that way. There are the main women who work in daycare that she knows very well and then, there are the other, part-time ladies that are always in and out and changing.

Sometimes I get sad because she doesn't seem to really prefer me. When I walk into a room, she smiles at me; but, then she'll do it to a stuffed animal too. So, my high goes right out the window. A few weeks ago she even started raising her arms for me to pick her up! That felt wonderful! She wanted me to hold her - yay! :) Now, she only does it sometimes.....which usually results in me saying something along the lines of, "Oh come here, ya turd...."

Perhaps when she gets older, bumps her head, or is scared, she'll find comfort in her mommy's arms. And, perhaps 9 months old is just an oblivious age, where she doesn't really care who's around. And, perhaps, I think WAY too much. :) Just perhaps.

I know I mean the world to that beautiful little girl; but, I sure wish she still liked to cuddle, like when she was really little. And, I cannot wait until she knows how to give hugs!

So, next time that you are semi-uncomfortable holding a wiggly child who wants their mommy, remember: it makes the mommy feel great! :)

UPDATE: Lucy is army crawling like crazy! She even sometimes gets herself into a bear-crawl position. She can go from crawling to sitting and wants so bad to pull herself up. Also, she is eating puffs and putting them in her mouth on her own! There are lots of changes going on in our house and more baby proofing has to be done. Exciting times!
