Big Girl Room: Update

Heath painted Lucy's room! :) He did a really, really good job too. I asked a hard challenge of him, by painting two walls white, one wall purple, and one wall teal. Meeting in the corners was difficult; but, he did awesome! :) I wish I had the pictures gathered to show you.

Disappointingly enough, I haven't gathered any of the photos yet. BUT, we did take a few photos on our phones! :) So, here they are - just a sneak peak until I gather more photos and we completely finish the room.

First of all, I gathered the paint samples, the true colors, for you to see. Hopefully the colors are true on my iphone camera (they are the top, darker ones).

Once Heath painted the walls, I started to paint smaller items that I had collected....

(You can see a teal wall in the top of the photo.)
Like this candle stick that I have no idea what I'm going to do with...but, I thought it would be cute painted.

Or, this large wood frame that I hope to use on the wall in the room.

As you can see, there were some smaller frames that we also painted, and some letters.

Do you remember in Lucy's nursery, how her name was on the wall?

Of course, we had to put her name in her new room too! :) So, we repainted the letters to hang.

Before:

(The picture looks yellowy because of the lighting.)

After:

The frame was a fantastic touch! Want to know where we got it? :)

My cousin had her mirror break in her dorm room. So, she was left with just a pink frame. When she asked if I wanted it, I thought, "Sure!" I knew I could do something with it. But, when I framed Lucy's name, it was perfect! :) We didn't have to do anything to the frame either; Heath just hung it! It was already a perfect color!

All I can leave you with now is a shot of the curtain rod we got at Lowe's.

It's pretty cute too! :) It doesn't add a lot to the room; but, it was too cute to pass up.

Hopefully I can show the entire room later this week. Stay tuned!

Seven Random Facts

Photo from IMDB.com
1) My all time favorite television show is I Love Lucy, I bet you couldn't have guessed that! That is where we got Lucy's name from. Thank goodness Heath loved it too! My favorite episode, for all you other Lucille Ball fans out there, is one of the Lucy & Desi Comedy Hours, in the last season. It's when they go to Japan. Hilarious! Second? Vitameatavegamin.

2) I have full intention of playing Barbies with Lucy when she is old enough. And, when it comes to buying toys...I'm going to be a sucker. Heck, I kind of already am. I bought her a baby doll from Walmart the other night. In my defense, she was grabbing for it...I already knew she had a couple at home. But, this was a baby boy. She didn't have one of those. Now, if she gets a little brother some day; she will have a baby boy to play with along side mommy.  Alright, so there was my justification....haha.

3) I've been on a huge 'cheese' kick lately. It may be all psychological; but, I swear it gives me that energy boost I need lately - especially before workouts. So, I've been snacking on cheese cubes and string cheese. But, I have also been eating these:

I've been getting the Four Cheese kind though. They are really good and a great snack at work. Check them out!

4) My guilty pleasures include watching Crybaby and Grease 2! They are awful, just plain awful. Why, oh why can't I resist them?

5) My not-so-guilty pleasures include getting pedicures, ordering dessert, purse shopping, getting a new pair of sandals, getting a really good clearance deal, getting my hair done, and indulging in the occasional Oreo.

6) I don't like drinking water...for the most part. I will when I work out or when I'm just plain thirsty. But, when I'm sitting around the house or going out to eat, I want something tastey! My preferences include: diet mountain dew, diet coke (at Sonic, I get vanilla in it), lemonade, or unsweetened, iced tea with lemon.

7) I have several celebrity crushes and most are based on their characters. I'm head over heels for....

Matthew Lawrence. Haha....I bet you thought I was going to say Johnny Depp, George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, or even Channing Tatum.  Nope. I fell in love with Matthew Lawrence in The Hot Chick, back in high school, and have loved him ever since - wherever he may be now.  By the way, you should watch that movie. It makes me laugh.

Lucy, the Dog

When naming Lucy, we never considered another girl name at all. We joked what we would name her twin (that my mom knew was undoubtedly there, since I was so huge). But, honestly, we had been talking about names long before pregnancy. It was a fun pastime and I liked to dream about our future together, as a family.

I grew up watching ‘I Love Lucy.’ To this day, it is still my number one show. Hilarious! If you haven’t seen it, shame on you. It is not only hilarious and well written, but it is a piece of our pop-culture history! I love Lucille Ball and have collected many items based on the show. So, for me, it seemed pretty obvious to name my daughter Lucy. It was adorable and classic. It seems like older names are coming back too – even more reason! When I told Heath, he liked it too. Then, he watched the show and found a love for Lucille Ball as well (except for her crying, “Whaaa”- haha). It was a sure thing at that point.

Today, roaming blogs and the usual social networks, my sister-in-law turned me onto another blog. It was about getting in shape; sending me there was stemmed by my post yesterday about my momma body. I read it and enjoyed it greatly. I even started following it! But then…I read about the blogger. She was adorable, inspiring, straight-forward, had a great husband, and then…..bum, bum, bum,….her dog’s name is Lucy.

Uggghh…..I literally raise my eyebrows and curl my mouth at the side in disturbance when I think about it.

Lucy isn’t a dog’s name….oh, alright, it isn’t the worst dog name I’ve ever heard; but, it is my baby girl’s name! Have you ever had that happen to you? A dog has the same name as your child? I don’t even know what to think. When people hear ‘Lucy’ do they think, “Oh that’s a dog’s name?”

At least it was a cute dog.
