I didn't go as in depth as years past with my televisions schedule. To be honest, it took/takes a LOT of time that I just don't have right now. So, I only listed what I might watch or like. Sorry. But, I hope you like it anyway! :)

Dear...

Dear Readers...I promise, I will totally get back into the hang of things here pretty soon. Tell my hubby that I need a netbook, or a keyboard for the girls' ipad, or something of the sort. :)

Dear Lucy...you have to do nothing more in the mornings than to just look at me, to brighten my day. Your bed-head is enough to make me smile.

Dear Winter...where is the snow? I work at an educational institution. Therefore, you are to give me at least one snow day a year. Is that too much to ask? Come on Jack Frost! Help me out!

Dear Chico...sorry, bud. Olive isn't eating solids yet. It's going to be a while before food gets thrown from the highchair.

Dear 2012...thank you so much for giving me my second baby girl; but, seriously, you could have kept that extra 30 lbs. (I miss warm, chocolate-chip cookies straight from the oven. Mmmm...)

Dear Lucy...I love that you throw yourself up against the wall, when I ask you to pose for a picture - so, so dramatic.

Dear Doctors and Nurses...thank you. Thank the Lord that someone around here doesn't mind blood, or other bodily functions, and isn't a creeper at the same time.

Dear Walmart...although it appears that you are taking all of our money...

every time I price match and use coupons, I feel like I gain a little bit back. Muah-ha-ha.

Yes. That is $300. I am that crazy lady at Walmart who should really be using two carts. However, I usually only make one trip a month! And, diapers and formula are expensive...bah...

Dear Christmas stuff that still isn't put away...I love you; I promise. I'm just lazy...er...I mean sidetracked...and haven't put you away yet. It's nothing personal.

Dear Lucy...you think Olive doesn't sit still? You should try doing your hair!

Dear Hunny...I sure do love you.

Have a wonderful weekend, all! :)

Halloween 2012

I have to hurry and share about our Halloween. Otherwise, it will be too close to Thanksgiving and Christmas to do so acceptably.

First, a few notes: October 2012 was my all time low of blog posts; I apologize. I really thought I'd do better. Also, I won't be writing a post about the Countdown to 25 Days of Christmas on ABC Family. But, I still recommend it! :) Here is the link to the schedule. If I see any good movies on, I'll post it in the 'I Love Lucy Jean' Facebook group. (Thanks Becca for reminding me!) I find that the countdown has historically been better than the actual 25 days schedule! And, finally, I realize that I need to change the name of this blog to include Olive, and change the photos - all in good time. :) I have had two suggestions on blog names too; oddly, the same title was suggested. I love it! (Thank you Nikki and Nicole!)

Anyway, on with the story - this Halloween was a lot of fun!

We carved pumpkins, which only lasted a day in the afternoon sun. They shriveled bad this year. We enjoyed them for a small while though. I always try to carve something a little challenging. This year, I chose Michael Myers. He is the "killer" from Halloween (1978), otherwise known as the best scary movie ever...with the best scary music ever. If you don't know who he is, shame on you.

My creepy Michael sat next to Olive's pumpkin that Aunt Honey carved for her. :)

On the other side of the steps, Lucy's Cinderella sat next to Heath's scary face. I carved Lucy's for her. She didn't do much, but cheer me on. It was appreciate though. :) Heath's looks kind of like a mean Ninja Turtle to me...

Halloween finally arrived; Olive and I took a trip to the Peru Daycare to trick-or-treat the campus with Lucy.

We weren't able to really get around town that much. But, we parked and strolled around for about half of a mile. Olive slept most of the time.

We ended the evening at home around 8:15 pm, after eating supper. We had three trick-or-treaters then. Lucy was sad that Halloween was over. She still asks to watch It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. Apparently, Charlie Brown's Christmas isn't quite as interesting, because she didn't sit still long enough to watch any of it! We'll keep trying...

Here comes Thanksgiving! :)

25 Days of Christmas...on TV

Let me first say that I am pretty excited about ABC Family's New Original Movie, 12 Dates of Christmas. Let me tell you a bit about it and I'm sure you will be too. :) It's made by Disney. It's about Christmas. It stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack from Saved by the Bell). It stars Amy Smart (queen of 90's teen movies). And, it has the same storyline idea of Groundhog's day. Do you not completely love it already? I do! :)  You can read more about it here: http://abcfamily.go.com/specials/25-days-christmas/blogs-details/12-dates-christmas/886324.

Next, are you not completely excited about the ABC Family 25 days of Christmas? The schedule that they offer seems to be getting lamer though. Here is the link to this year's schedule; it's on the right-side, about half-way down the page.

http://abcfamily.go.com/specials/25-days-christmas/

Also, at the link above, you can watch ABC Family Original Christmas Movies online - like Holiday in Handcuffs, Christmas Caper, Snow, Snow 2, and Christmas Cupid. I love Holiday in Handcuffs by the way; I highly recommend it. It starts Melissa Joan Hart and Mario Lopez. I just love all of these 90's actors reappearing in their 30s. I simply love it.

I'm "Such a Mom"

I always said that I would be "the cool mom." I'm going to stay up with the times and styles. I'm going to continue to listen to popular music. I won't wear mom jeans or otherwise embarrassing clothes. I won't talk about boys or sing along in the car, especially during sleepovers. I will understand shorts that are just shorter than the finger-tip rule. I will understand asking to shave early. I'll remember myself as a child...

I'm not doing so well.

I don't know if it is my getting older, having "real-life" responsibilities, or being a mom that has changed me. I just don't see things like I used to.

Scary movies are scary. Watching someone get stabbed in the torso repeatedly is not just a fun thrill. It is terrifying that those people are out there!

Nickelodeon is kind of smart-alleck-y.

What is with all of the toys these days for little girls? Bratz? Give me a break. But, have you seen the Monster High dolls?

And, now they have costumes for little girls.

Let's pretend for five seconds that this little girl isn't wearing makeup. Are those fish net stockings? Or knee high boots? Let's just file this one in the "Toddlers & Tiaras" file.

I realized that I was being a little more critical than usual; but, I was finally told by Heath that I was "such a mom" when I made one particular complaint. It was about a song that hit the top 40 list a few months ago. I think it's just awful. The song is "Pumped Up Kicks" by Foster the People. Catchy tune - I'll give you that.

The lyrics include these lines:

Robert's got a quick hand.
He'll look around the room, he won't tell you his plan.
Yeah, he found a six shooter gun.
In his dad's closet hidden with a box of fun things, and I don't even know what.
But he's coming for you, yeah he's coming for you.

All the other kids with the pumped up kicks you'd better run, better run, outrun my gun.
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks you'd better run, better run, faster than my bullet.

I feel that this song reeks of school shooting. It really bothers me. I sounds like an awful anthem! After hearing the actual lyrics of the song, I can't stand to listen to it. I refuse to support the song, the idea, or the band. We even googled it, to see if the band reveled the meaning. Someone online claimed that it was to "raise awareness of school shootings." Yeah, okay. I don't believe that. It wouldn't be so upbeat.

Am I really being "such a mom"? Am I too touchy? Because, I swear I didn't used to be like that.

What do you think? Any other "moms" out there?

Thought I would share...

Yep - I'm double blogging - my sincerest apologies. Okay, not really, perhaps 1/8th of my sincerity.

Anyway,...I didn't know if any of my readers here at I Love Lucy Jean were into celebrity gossip and such. If so...you should go over to my other blog:

I've had a couple of posts on Celebrity Look-A-Likes....if you are interested.

Just thought I would share!

SpongeBob Screwed-Up Pants

I'm a fan of SpongeBob. I really am. In fact, I used to watch it back when I was in high school. Patrick cracks me up!

Anyway, I was never a huge fan of Lucy watching SpongeBob though. Well, I'm not really supposed to be letting her watch any television at all. But, you know what? We can't keep it away from her! She loves it! I've created a monster!

We know that the American Pediatrics Something-or-Another says that children under the age of two years old should not watch any television. And, when they do start watching television that they should only watch one hour a day.

Do you follow this rule?

I confess - we don't always. We do allow her to sit down with us on the weekend and watch a family movie. She has enjoyed The Princess and the Frog, Bolt, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and Despicable Me. We are probably going to let her watch Hop with us this weekend too. Is that awful?

To get on with my story....Lucy loves SpongeBob. We've even allowed her to watch it on occasion; because, Heath and I enjoy it too. Bad reason - but, I'm being honest. Until...

One Saturday morning I'm watching the ol'Bob with Lucy. It is yet another episode about Plankton trying to get the Krusty Krab secret recipe. Somehow, Sandy the Squirrel fit into the story line and she accidentally takes Plankton home in her water suit. When she arrives home, she decides to take a shower.

Then, to my horror, what does she do? She takes her fur off. What? Yes! She take her fur off!!!

And, then she hangs it on a hook next to the shower!

Plankton is watching all of this, by the way, which is a little screwed-up too.

So, Sandy is joyfully showering, bald.

While her fur carcass is hanging next to her.

What?!

Then, Plankton steals the fur shell, to pose as Sandy and steal the recipe.

Is this disturbing to anyone else?

Let's pretend for a second that it isn't gross and messed up; it's inaccurate! I don't want Lucy thinking that squirrels' skin just comes off!

I'm at a loss for words about the images I have just laid before you...

Personal thoughts?

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I am loving...

...that the playroom is almost finished! Heath finished painting everything, hung the ceiling fan, and even put all the vents and outlet covers back! It was pretty impressive.

...Kirstie Alley. She is a wreck on DWTS; but, she is hilarious!

DANCING WITH THE STARS - "Episode 1201" - A star-studded cast filled with celebrities across a variety of genres are set to compete each week on the dance floor. Performing either the Foxtrot or the Cha Cha Cha, all 11 couples danced for the first time on live national television in the spectacular two-hour season premiere of "Dancing with the Stars," MONDAY, MARCH 21 (8:00-10:02 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. (ABC/ADAM LARKEY)KIRSTIE ALLEY, MAKSIM CHMERKOVSKIY

...my new book frame. My dad had these little five cent books, from when he was little. They were sitting in the bottom of a tote. I asked if I could frame them for Lucy's playroom. He said sure, since they were too fragile to actually let Lucy read or play with. They are 50 years old! I took them to our local framers and this is what they did:

I chose the matte to match the red playroom carpet.
This was the last view before they ordered the frame.
This is a bad picture of the final product, with a hairy, ghostly orb in the left-hand corner. Okay, okay - that's our chihuahua, Squirt, standing in the sun. I'll be sure to show you the frame in the finished playroom.
...that our community is having an Easter Egg Hunt this weekend. And, they have an age group for Lucy! :) I may have to practice picking up eggs with her. haha.

...Lucy is sleeping through the night again. We had a rough patch with her being sick and teething more.

...that I will be getting a new blog design soon! We've been working on something and I just can't wait to have a new, fun, cleaner, crisper, wider look! So, don't be completely shocked if it changes, randomly, one day. (No, the new turquoise header is NOT what I am talking about.)

...thunderstorms! There is a thunderstorm coming through in the next couple of days and I'm excited!

...Easter is almost here! The E.B. got some very special gifts for Lucy; I just know it. I have a feeling that includes green jeggings. :)

...we are watching Hop this weekend. Look for a review on Foo Foo Review next week. I really like James Marsden too. He's pretty easy on the eyes.

...that it's Hump Day! Only two and a half more work days! Is it inappropriate to bring up Hump Day after discussing how cute James Marsden is? I'm just asking...

...my readers, followers, commenters, and email subscribers! I love hearing that people are interested in our stories.

...my family and most of all, my Lucy!

Seven Random Facts

Photo from IMDB.com
1) My all time favorite television show is I Love Lucy, I bet you couldn't have guessed that! That is where we got Lucy's name from. Thank goodness Heath loved it too! My favorite episode, for all you other Lucille Ball fans out there, is one of the Lucy & Desi Comedy Hours, in the last season. It's when they go to Japan. Hilarious! Second? Vitameatavegamin.

2) I have full intention of playing Barbies with Lucy when she is old enough. And, when it comes to buying toys...I'm going to be a sucker. Heck, I kind of already am. I bought her a baby doll from Walmart the other night. In my defense, she was grabbing for it...I already knew she had a couple at home. But, this was a baby boy. She didn't have one of those. Now, if she gets a little brother some day; she will have a baby boy to play with along side mommy.  Alright, so there was my justification....haha.

3) I've been on a huge 'cheese' kick lately. It may be all psychological; but, I swear it gives me that energy boost I need lately - especially before workouts. So, I've been snacking on cheese cubes and string cheese. But, I have also been eating these:

I've been getting the Four Cheese kind though. They are really good and a great snack at work. Check them out!

4) My guilty pleasures include watching Crybaby and Grease 2! They are awful, just plain awful. Why, oh why can't I resist them?

5) My not-so-guilty pleasures include getting pedicures, ordering dessert, purse shopping, getting a new pair of sandals, getting a really good clearance deal, getting my hair done, and indulging in the occasional Oreo.

6) I don't like drinking water...for the most part. I will when I work out or when I'm just plain thirsty. But, when I'm sitting around the house or going out to eat, I want something tastey! My preferences include: diet mountain dew, diet coke (at Sonic, I get vanilla in it), lemonade, or unsweetened, iced tea with lemon.

7) I have several celebrity crushes and most are based on their characters. I'm head over heels for....

Matthew Lawrence. Haha....I bet you thought I was going to say Johnny Depp, George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, or even Channing Tatum.  Nope. I fell in love with Matthew Lawrence in The Hot Chick, back in high school, and have loved him ever since - wherever he may be now.  By the way, you should watch that movie. It makes me laugh.

Bucket List

Today, I turn 25 years old. That is big one for me.  It is an age that makes me sit back and evaluate my life and experiences so far. And, it makes me think about what else I hope to do before 30.  As of now, I am just excited to move to the next check box on surveys (from 18-24 to 25-29)! I can hopefully, now, be taken more seriously!

Speaking of life and experiences...

I was asked to do a half-marathon in May, "You know, something to cross off the bucket list."

Hmmm.....my bucket list.

Whenever I thought of things I wanted to do in my lifetime, I would always think of the 'general' ones: get married, have children, celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary, etc. I am not one to want to jump out of airplanes, bungee jump, or anything daring. I am pretty boring for the most part.

Lately, however, I have caught myself saying, "that is something that I want to do." I realized that ultimately it would be on my so-called bucket list. And, then I realized something else: it is pretty therapeutic making a bucket list and crossing items off. It makes you feel accomplished and worth while. :)

So, here are some items that I have mustered up, in no particular order. Some I've crossed off already and am excited that I was able to do so.

1) Find true love & get married
2) Have children
3) Get a Bachelors Degree
4) Own a pair of Manolo Blahnik heels
5) Attend an Aerosmith concert
6) Go to Europe
7) Meet a 3rd cast member of 'Saved by the Bell'
8) Get a Masters Degree
9) Attend an Elton John concert
10) Adopt a dog in need
11) Run a half-marathon
12) Fit into my skinny jeans
13) Get a Doctorate
14) See The Red Hot Chili Peppers in concert
15) Go to Disney World, with my children
16) Go to a College Football Championship
17) Go skiiing
18) Go parasailing
19) Ride/Sleep on a train
20) Visit Jamestown, NY (Lucille Ball's Birthplace)
21) See the Statue of Liberty
22) Go whitewater rafting
23) Visit Grauman's Chinese Theater
23) See the Grand Canyon
24) Win a game show
25) Own a Mercedes Benz
26) Gamble in Las Vegas
27) Win a drawing
28) See a Broadway Show
29) Ride in a helicopter
30) Visit the Alamo (verify that there isn't a basement)
31) Go to Washington, D.C.
32) Celebrate a 50th Wedding Anniversary
33) Find a hidden treasure
34) Write a book

Some of these show how sheltered I am! haha. What would be on your bucket list?

More About Me

If you have pets, do you see them as merely animals or are they members of your family?Well, as my profile suggests, they are totally members of our family. The Chihuahuas are my fur-children. :) They were an even bigger part of our lives before we had Lucy. Santa would bring them gifts, as did the Easter Bunny, and so on. Santa still brings them gifts; but, Lucy is now the center of our universe. We try to make sure we give them special time and attention when Lucy is sleeping. They are still very special and close to my heart.

If you could have a dream come true, what would it be?My wish would be to see Lucy grow up, get married, and have a family of her own. Materialistically, I would love to be able to help design a home, to be custom built. :)

What would you do with a billion dollars?Design a home to be custom built, with all the trimmings!
Buy a huge Cadillac SUV
Buy a truck for Heath
Buy a snow blower
Go to Disney World annually
Go on a European Cruise
Go on a Disney Cruise
Adopt more Chihuahuas
Start my Masters and Doctorate right now
Visit my distant family annually
Go on a clothing shopping spree for the entire family
Pay off our family’s debt/share with our families
Invest/Save
Donate

What helps to pull you out of a bad mood?Lucy, Heath sometimes (if he didn’t put me in the bad mood, haha), good food, the movie theatre, buying a new movie, holidays, the weekend, shopping for pretty much anything, new clothes, a new purse, decorating, organizing, exercising, family, sleep

What is your bedtime routine, with your kids?It changes with teething. She gets her jammies on, she gets her binkie and her sippy cup of water, and we try to read to her on most nights. On others we snuggle until she is sleepy. I always pray and occasionally sing to Lucy.

If you are currently in a relationship, how did you meet your significant other? We met in high school. :) It really isn’t that interesting. Haha.

What kind of books do you read?I like mysteries. I am super juvenile and have been reading Nancy Drew Mysteries since I got the entire set for Christmas in 2009. It is a quick and fun read. I have also been reading the Pretty Little Liars Series; I am in the beginning of the third book. Otherwise, I am lame and like reading biographies about celebrities. I finished ‘Miles to Go’ about Miley Cyrus and have read the beginning of Kendra Wilkinson-Baskett’s book, ‘Sliding into Home.’

How do you see yourself in 10 years?Oh boy! Well, I hope we are even more financially secure and perhaps I will be making more money ;). I hope we will be shopping around for or moved into a new home. I am still thinking 3 children. I want to have my Masters degree and hopefully either have or am working on a doctorate. Of course I am still happily married and our family is involved in the community.

Would you give up all junk food for the rest of your life for the opportunity to see outer space?Umm….no. This isn’t really even something that I had to contemplate.

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?Hit snooze as many times as I can. Then when Heath pokes me and says, “You need to get into the shower.” I finally give in. I then gather my undergarments and a brush, then head for the shower.

If you could change one thing about your significant other, what would it be?That he listened more sometimes and that he had the same sleep schedule as me (stay up late and sleep in). :)

If you could pick a new name for yourself, what would it be?I wouldn’t. It is weird to think of a name that fits me. I like my name now too. I used to hate it because it was a boy’s name. But, now that I am older, I like the uniqueness (without the crazy spellings).

If you had to choose between six months of sun or six months of rain, what would you choose?I would probably choose sun; but, I sure do love rain! I just love thunderstorms!

If you could only eat one thing for the next 6 months, what would it be?Cheeseburger, fries with ranch, and bosco sticks. I have an addiction! Or, Kraft Mac and Cheese!

What is the thing you enjoy about blogging the most? The journaling – I think it will be so neat for Lucy to see these blogs when she grows up. It is sort of like writing a book about your life, with really short chapters. Plus I love getting followers, ‘Likes’, and comments about the blogs. It makes me feel like people care, which is really nice. :)

Do you prefer salty or sweet foods?
Salty – bring on the chips, crackers and cheese. When I was pregnant it was all sweets though (Oreos, Sour Patch Kids, and Laffy Taffy).

What items are in your purse right now?My wallet, a coupon book, Ibuprofen, Sucrets, a pen, gum, a compact, chap stick, my keys, my cell phone, my iPod Touch, a small brush, tampon case, lipstick, antibacterial, paint samples, lotion, perfume, Dramamine, and a list of daycare children for Lucy’s valentines

If you had to choose between vacationing at the beach or in the mountains where would you go?I have been to both and enjoyed the beach more, I think. I was horrible at skiing!

What do you watch on television that you know you shouldn’t?I don’t think I watch anything that I necessarily shouldn’t. It is more that I shouldn’t watch so much TV! Right now I watch: Pretty Little Liars, Greek, American Idol, American Pickers, Hellcats, Glee, Holly’s World, Saturday Night Live, Tosh.0, and Biggest Loser.

I also watch: Secret Life of the American Teenager, Kendra, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Melissa and Joey, Storm Chasers, the Buried Life, 16 & Pregnant, and Teen Mom.

After some reflection I’ve decided that I probably shouldn’t watch 16 & Pregnant and Teen Mom. They are pretty horrible; they are my guilty pleasures. And, Tosh.0 is pretty offensive. Haha. Lucy is definitely banned from these shows!

Movie Night

I was making supper and Heath was sitting at the table helping Lucy with her green beans. He says:

"Tonight feels like a movie night."

" Oh yeah?"

"Yeah, how about after supper we watch a movie?"

"Okay!"

"I was thinking.......Cinderella."

"Oh, alright. I thought you were going to say our netflix movie; but, I'm totally up for Cinderella!"

And folks, these are the perks of having a little girl. Your husband actually suggests watching Disney's Cinderella. :)

Oh, and by the way, this conversation was followed by me dancing around Lucy, random utensils in hand, singing, "hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry, make a dress for Cinderelly." :) Now the song is going to be stuck in your head too!
