Lying in bed last night, Heath says to me:
-
"I really cherish these times with Lucy. I mean, just holding her and when she puts her head on my shoulder...."
-
"It's amazing; isn't it?"
-
"It really is. Do you realize we are talking months before she is doing toddler 'things' and it won't be much longer before she won't want to put her head on my shoulder."
-
"Hunny, don't worry; you have many years to come that she'll want to put her head on your shoulder."
-
"Emmm...I don't know."
-
"I still put my head on my dad's shoulder sometimes."
-
"I guess."
-
"We will teach her how to love - how we show love."
-
With that he just grabbed my hand and decided to go to sleep. As a parent, something you never thought you'd love so much and miss when it was gone - a sleepy, cuddlly, little head on your shoulder.
it's very true - the time flies by. But even 3 years later, Tristan will still cuddle with me :D ...Isaac, not so much, but he's never been a big cuddler. :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post on such a beautiful topic. At every milestone, there will be a head on your shoulder. She will always need the affection of her mommy and daddy. One day, far far away, she'll be grown and understand just what it meant to you. She'll be ready to shoulder someone else and you will marvel at that too. Life may be crazy but it's so beautiful, just like your Lucy.
